Editor: Could you tell us a bit about yourself and how you entered the music industry?

Clark S: My name is CLARK S and I’m a singer living in Switzerland. Music has always been a big part of my life as I grew up in a musician’s family. Real soon, I was sure about one thing: Being a singer goes together with being a songwriter. It’s about telling your story. I realized that I can’t live without it anymore.

Growing up in the countryside brought a strong desire to my life. I wanted to see the whole world as soon as possible. Fortunately, I had the chance to meet some of the best Swiss musicians and got in touch with a producer in Zurich, Switzerland’s biggest city that changed my life.

My music has good and happy vibes, catchy hook lines combined with groovy guitars and fresh beats. I love the mix between modern Pop production and organic Instruments such as Guitars and Pianos.

Editor: Tell us about your achievements as a musician

Clark S: I just released my debut single “BLUE ESCAPE” as a solo artist. Immediately, the song got featured on numerous playlists on Spotify such as: ‘New Music Friday’, ‘New Swiss Music’, ‘HYPED by Young & Aspiring’ or ‘Swiss Radar’.

Besides that many Swiss radio stations took it on their playlists days before the release. I didn’t see this coming at all as it was my first Solo Release ever.

In 2019, I could play lots of shows in Switzerland. I had the chance to get stage experience doing Band and Solo shows at festivals and indoor clubs.

Editor: Tell us about your songs which have been released until date. Is there a song you feel most proud of?

Clark S: “BLUE ESCAPE” has just been released and the feedback was really empowering. We did a music video which was so much fun to do.

This song means a lot to me. I wrote it when I left my hometown. It’s about experiencing a new environment, which also can be stressful facing pressure and high expectations. That’s why sometimes we just need to stop ourselves from running like a jump into cold and crystal clear water, so we can focus again.

Editor: Where did you get that confidence to perform on stage?

Clark S: There’s no place I feel more confident and alive at than on stage. It’s what brings me to life, and really lets me live in the present moment. Also, there’s no other place I open up feelings and stories at like I manage to do on stage. Performing needs a lot of energy but gives back even more.

Editor: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Clark S: Beside shows in Switzerland I’d love to be playing international club concerts with a professional band in my back. A European tour through big cities like Rome, Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona, Paris ending in London would is my biggest goal in the near future.

Editor: What is your dream project?

Clark S: I wanna show an evolving movement through my music that ends in a big album project working together with the best musicians I can take with me. Once I’m 70 years old, I wanna be able to get back into every mood of earlier stages in life and remember it with the same emotion.

Editor: What would you like people to take away from your music?

Clark S: I want people to have fun with my music and dance to it as much as I want them to understand the roots of my personality.

Editor: Which Artists Instagram Stories do you follow and why?

Clark S: John Mayer’s Instagram is legendary. He really tries to show his personality to the world. I would say, that people feel personally connected through his appearance on social media because of the way he presents his musician’s life with real honesty and a great sense of humor. To me, it’s just entertaining in so many ways.

Editor: Any upcoming album or song release you want to share with us?

Clark S: We’re working on an EP right now that’s being released next year. The next Single Release will be in November, and there are more to come in 2020.

Editor: Who were your inspirations growing up?

Clark S: I’ve always been a huge Michael Jackson fan, I still have some biographies at home that I’ve been reading. And for sure, when I’ve seen Justin Timberlake perform the Man of the Woods Show with his band the Tennessee kids, a little teenage dream has come true.

Editor: Are you into songwriting? What are your main impulses to write about music?

Clark S: Lately, I wrote some songs about the part of moving on and leaving something behind that doesn’t help you. Writing about it helps me to find focus again. Also, I like to write about love. Yet there are so many ways of loving someone, everyone can relate to it.

Editor: If you only had 24 hours to live, how would you spend your day?

Clark S: I’d write a short song for every person I love, so they’ll remember me the best.

Editor: Is there any particular advice you would give to up-and-coming vocalists?

Clark S: Always try hard to find your style and stick to it. No one can take this from you and this fact gives you a lot of self-confidence.

Editor: What is your opinion about One Song? Do you think it’s a valuable platform for the career growth of musicians like you?

Clark S: I’m so glad to be a part of One Song’s community. Many talented, undiscovered musicians don’t have the platform for their music. It’s exciting for newcomers like me, to talk about music and also to discover new talents. So a big THANK YOU to all of One Song’s great work!
