“I basically concentrate on the melody at first and the lyrics come later on” – Mariana Barrier Talks To ‘One Song’

Ragini Juneja

Editor: Could you tell us a bit about yourself and how you entered the music industry?

Mariana Barrier: I started singing at the age of 6 at the Music School and was touring with folkloric music. Later on, I was interested in jazz and electronic music, deep house in particular. I still compose electronic music and sing jazz.

Editor: Tell us about your achievements as a musician

Mariana: I don’t know what exactly do you call ‘achievements’, I am happy when the audience has a good time during the show, that’s the biggest satisfaction and achievement for me.

Editor: Tell us about your songs which have released until date. Is there a song you feel most proud of?

Mariana: I have released the jazz single “Summertime” available on iTunes, Deezer, Amazon, and Spotify.

Editor: Where did you get that confidence to perform on stage?

Mariana: I learned it gradually. At first, I was very nervous, thinking that everyone will notice every slight mistake that I can make. It comes with time and experience, you relax eventually.

Editor: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Mariana: ‘New Lady Gaga’? Just kidding! I see myself composing more and performing more of electronic/house music.

Editor: What is your dream project?

Mariana: My dream project would be to collect enough money in order to do charity.

Editor: What would you like people to take away from your music?

Mariana: I like people to connect with their soul so to speak, with the good part inside of them.. it just to forget their troubles for the moment.. that will make me happy.

Editor: Which Artists Instagram Stories do you follow and why?

Mariana: I follow most of the famous musicians, ‘Sting’ for example, which is an incredible inspiration for me as a musician and human being. I also like ‘Lady Gaga’, for her courage and unique style.
