Editor: Could you tell us a bit about yourself and how you entered the music industry?

Nova Myhrman: Hi! My name is Nova. I’m a fifteen-year-old singer from Sweden who loves to sing. I run an Instagram page named nova vocals where I post covers.

When I was two years old, I started singing at my kindergarten. It started off just as a hobby, but when I began to grow, my passion for singing and music also grew.

As I grew, so did my dreams and by the time I was eight, I knew that I wouldn’t be satisfied with life until everybody knew my name as an artist. So I worked very hard, every day, every second I could spare went to practice and I still do to this very day.

At thirteen, I started to sign myself up to competitions and musicals, anything that had to do with singing. I won some competitions but still, I wasn’t done. I wanted to put myself out there, infront of a bigger crowd. So I packed my bags and moved, to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Bigger city, bigger crowd.

At my school, I got professional singing lessons from an amazing teacher, that’s when I realized that my genre was modern pop and ballads.

At the same time, I was running a youtube channel (Nova Myhrman) where I posted full covers about once a week but when I moved I didn’t have access to my studio anymore and that’s when I started my Instagram page – novasvocals.

Editor: Tell us about your achievements as a musician

Nova: I haven’t really gotten that far yet in my career, just some concerts here and there but as a singer, I’ve evolved a lot. In a short amount of time, I learned to control my voice in a very complicated way which now allows me to sing higher and lower than I’ve ever been able too before. I’ve managed to grow a name for myself on social media, a very small name but still.

Editor: Tell us about your songs which have been released until date. Is there a song you feel most proud of?

Nova: I haven’t released any songs yet. Although I am working on a song with a producer from California that should be released in the next month or two.

Editor: If you weren’t a singer/musician, what would you be doing right now?

Probably studying to become a lawyer. But if I were, I think that I would miss a part of me that is music and I wouldn’t really be satisfied with life.

Editor: Where did you get that confidence to perform on stage?

Nova: From my mom. She inspires me every day and pushes me to be the best and most confident version of myself. Don’t listen to too haters, because there will always be negativity around in this business, and if you want to succeed you have to learn how to look past it.

Editor: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Nova: Hopefully I’ll be signed to a record label with an album on the way, by then I’ll only be twenty so still pretty young.

Editor: What is your dream project?

Nova: To go on a worldwide tour or be on a talk show.

Editor: What would you like people to take away from your music?

Nova: I write my music based on my own life experiences, so when someone hears it I want them to listen to my truth.

Editor: Which Artists Instagram Stories do you follow and why?

Nova: Billie Eilish. Why? Because she’s amazing. She’s only two years older than me and has already accomplished so much. Her music is different and her concert in Stockholm was just breathtaking (some tears may have slipped the eyes).

Editor: Who were your inspirations growing up?

Nova: Anna Kendrick.

Editor: Are you into songwriting? What are your main impulses to write about music?

Nova: I try to be. I’m still pretty new to writing my own stuff but I think it’s fun getting to express myself through my own songs. I love to write about pain, I know it sounds a bit weird coming from a fifteen-year-old but there’s just something there that speaks to me and it’s easy to put words to the feeling.

Editor: Is there any particular advice you would give to up-and-coming vocalists?

Nova: Believe in yourself no matter what you hear, think or feel. In the end, it’s only you.

Editor: What is your opinion about One Song? Do you think it’s a valuable platform for the career growth of musicians like you?

Nova: I think it’s a really valuable platform that shows that you’re not alone out there and if you doubt yourself or have any questions there are other musicians stories to read and get advice from. I’m very happy to be a part of this.
